Enhancing Separation. Optimizing Oxygen Transfer. Improving ETP Performance.
Industrial wastewater varies significantly from one industry to another, often containing combinations of high COD and BOD, TSS, FOG, emulsified oils, colour, surfactants, and other process-specific contaminants. Changes in raw materials, production processes, operating schedules, and cleaning cycles can create significant variations in flow, organic loading, suspended solids, oil and grease, emulsified contaminants, colour, and biodegradability. Unlike domestic sewage, industrial effluents are more challenging and may require different treatment mechanisms at different stages.
One of the major challenges is the efficient separation of FOG, oils, suspended solids, and other floatable or emulsified contaminants before they enter downstream biological processes. When these contaminants are not effectively removed, they increases the organic load on biological treatment, interfere with oxygen transfer, contribute to sludge generation, and affect overall process stability.
Biological treatment presents another critical challenge. In aerobic ETP processes, microorganisms require a continuous supply of dissolved oxygen to convert biodegradable organic matter into more stable end products. However, conventional aeration systems require substantial energy, while oxygen-transfer performance is influenced by bubble size, water characteristics, reactor depth, MLSS concentration, temperature, and fouling. As industrial loading increases, limitations in oxygen transfer becomes a bottleneck for treatment capacity and performance.
NanoCav® Nanobubble Technology by Prasinos addresses these challenges through application-specific nanobubble technology, allowing the technology to be integrated at the treatment stage where it provides the greatest process benefit. Depending on the wastewater characteristics and treatment objective, NanoCav® can support bubble-assisted separation, enhanced oxygen transfer, biological treatment, and advanced polishing.
