Higher Dissolved Oxygen. Healthier Water Bodies. Sustainable Aquatic Ecosystems.
The deterioration of a lake or reservoir is rarely driven by a single factor. A combination of excess nutrient inflow, organic loading, sediment oxygen demand, thermal stratification, inadequate circulation, algal biomass accumulation, and seasonal variations can progressively disturb the natural oxygen balance of the water body. As these conditions persist, dissolved oxygen declines, particularly in deeper and poorly circulated zones, creating an increasingly stressed aquatic environment. Low-oxygen conditions trigger a cascade of secondary water-quality problems. Oxygen depletion near the sediment–water interface alters nutrient dynamics and promote the release of phosphorus from sediments, while anaerobic decomposition generates hydrogen sulphide and other odorous compounds. Prolonged deterioration contributes to algal proliferation, reduced biodiversity, fish and invertebrate stress, and declining ecological health. In reservoirs and managed water bodies used for water supply or other critical applications, these changes also increase operational and water-quality risks.
Conventional interventions—including mechanical surface aeration, chemical treatment, dredging, and large-scale civil modifications—can be effective for specific conditions, but their suitability depends heavily on the characteristics of the water body. Where oxygen deficiency, poor circulation, and accumulated organic loading are major contributors to degradation, improving oxygen transfer throughout the water column can form an important component of a comprehensive rejuvenation strategy.
Prasinos’ patented NanoCav® Aqua is designed to address the oxygen-transfer and circulation component of lake and pond restoration by generating ultra-fine nanobubbles through advanced hydrodynamic cavitation. When appropriately configured and strategically deployed, the system improves dissolved oxygen availability, reduce oxygen-deficient zones, support aerobic biological activity, and contribute to healthier water-body conditions. NanoCav® Aqua is not intended to replace source-control measures or comprehensive lake restoration practices. Instead, it would be integrated with wastewater management, nutrient-load reduction, sediment management, algae-control measures, and other restoration interventions to create a more complete and sustainable lake rejuvenation strategy.

Reduces Anaerobic & Oxygen-Deficient Zones, helping create healthier conditions for fish, aquatic organisms, and beneficial microorganisms.
Supports Natural Organic Matter Degradation, providing oxygen to aerobic microbial communities involved in the breakdown of biodegradable organic matter.
Helps Control Foul Odour, particularly where anaerobic conditions contribute to the formation of odorous compounds.
Supports Algae Management, by improving overall water quality and ecological conditions as part of an integrated lake restoration strategy.
Improves Water Circulation & Mixing, helping reduce stagnant zones and improve the distribution of oxygen within the water body.
Supports Aquatic Life, creating healthier dissolved oxygen conditions for fish and other aerobic aquatic organisms.
Helps Improve Overall Water Quality, particularly when combined with appropriate control of external pollution and nutrient sources.
Suitable for Polluted & Eutrophic Water Bodies, where low DO, organic accumulation, stagnation, and excessive nutrient loading are contributing to water-quality deterioration.
Energy-Efficient Oxygenation, providing an alternative approach to conventional aeration for large water bodies where efficient oxygen transfer is critical.
Flexible Installation, with configurations that would be designed according to lake area, depth, circulation requirements, and restoration objectives.
Chemical-Free Oxygen Enhancement, enabling oxygenation without directly introducing chemical oxidants into the water body.
NanoCav® Aqua can be engineered for a wide range of natural, artificial, recreational, and managed water bodies. The system configuration and deployment strategy can be customized according to the size, depth, hydraulic characteristics, pollution load, and intended use of each water body.
Prasinos combines hydrodynamic cavitation, fluid engineering, and water-body management expertise to develop NanoCav® Aqua systems for the restoration and long-term management of lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and other aquatic environments. Each system is engineered around the physical and water-quality characteristics of the site rather than relying on a standard aeration configuration.
Engineered Oxygenation Strategy – Designed around the lake's DO profile, depth, volume, oxygen demand, and circulation pattern.
